How Rolf Integration Works

Ever really thought about your posture?

The way you look, stand, and move is determined by the way your muscles interact with your skeleton. Over time some muscles become tight and others weak, distorting the skeleton from true alignment. When this happens, joints are in danger of being injured, and internal organs lose space and efficiency.
Structural Integration re-aligns the body by releasing imbalances in the tissues. It is a specific type of massage that opens the fascia, a web-like connective tissue that largely determines posture. When the fascia is freed from habitual stresses, the body regains it's natural lift; the spine is healthy, joints move freely, and internal organs function efficiently.

The basic Rolf series occurs over ten 1-hour sessions in which each layer and dimension of fascia is released. The first three sessions deal with superficial layers, or the "outside envelope". The next four sessions open deeper, core structures that have the greatest influence on overall posture. Finally, the last three sessions focus on integrating and balancing all of the tissues in the body. The work is intelligent, safe, and effective.

Take a moment to view the pictures of individuals who have gone through the ten sessions. As you do, remember that structure (posture) determines function (physiology). Notice the external changes, and then imagine how the internal systems (organs, circulation, nervous system) might have been affected. This perspective will allow you to see how changing posture can truly change one's life.
